Childhood
Richard Ramirez came from an underprivileged family from El Paso, Texas. His father was abusive and you often hit his brothers when they misbehaved. At an early age Ramirez was influenced by his older brothers who would break into houses and take valuables, as well as use drugs and drink alcohol. Ramirez would soon follow their footsteps. He was also influenced by his cousin Mike who had been in the Vietnam War. Mike and Ramirez would spend countless hours drinking while Mike told war stories. Ramirez would always remember the stories Mike told about humiliating and torturing women. By the age of 13, Ramirez witnessed his cousin kill his wife. This had changed Ramirez's perspective of life.
Crimes
Richard's crimes consisted of breaking and entering, burglaries, rape, murder. Ultimately, Ramirez was charged with 13 counts of murder, 5 attempted murder, 11 sexual assaults, and 14 burglaries. On November 7, 1979 Ramirez was sentenced to death.
Prison Life
In prison, Ramirez was the most popular and known inmate. He received many letters from admirers all over the world especially women. Ramirez was known to be an exhibitionist. In 2010, he was denied visitation rights because of he would always expose his genitals and masturbate.
